Mr. Wambua further holds a postgraduate diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Insitute of PR. Between 1993 – 1995, he studied Mass Communication at the University of Nairobi, gaining a postgraduate diploma.

Wambua’s career journey started in 1997 at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, performing as a Public Relations Officer. He then entered the Tea Board of Kenya, operating in the same role in 2000. The Communications Authority of Kenya was his following work experience where he began off as an Assistant PR Manager.
Spending nearly fourteen years in the institution, Wambua performed as the Communication Manager. He then became the Assistant Director, Multimedia Content & Innovation. Just before he was selected as the new Kenya Films Classification Board CEO, Wambua was the Director of Communications & Public Affairs at the institution.
