Joyce Omondi Waihiga is an award-winning Kenyan-born gospel musician & TV show host. She is beautiful, elegant, and, to crown it, all-intelligent. Joyce came into the spotlight while hosting the celebrated Citizen TV show “Rauka.” However, a musician is also a private person who is shy from dissensions.
Details regarding her age are not in the public domain.
The songstress is educated in Kenya & the USA.
She went to Knox College in the United States between 2006 to 2010. Her major was in Economics & Integrated International Studies (IIS). While at the university, she was a great sophomore senator, Knox ambassador, and a portion of the Harambee choir.
Upon returning to Kenya, she co-hosted the famous gospel show, “Rauka.” In 2013, she quit the show to follow a master’s degree in International Development at Georgetown University in Washington.
Joyce Omondi has a special style of music and can’t be stapled to one specific genre. Instead, her songs explore various genres, such as smooth jazz, reggae, neo, soul & Western. The celebrated musician learned to play piano and sing and began performing early in life at church gatherings in Woodley, Nairobi. Later, she evolved as part of the church choir.
After reaching Kenya, she fired her first hit song, “Conqueror.” The song is about her dad, injured in the 1998 bomb at the ex-United States Embassy in downtown Nairobi. It grabs his visits in and out of the hospital and how the family got via that difficult period.
After leaving Rauka, she stayed out of the spotlight for six years and made a comeback with a show named “Full Circle with Joyce” on switch TV. This is a lifestyle-based talk show that aims to highlight lifestyle, marriage, parenthood, health, career talk, food travel & style. She shared the following notification.
“ It’s been 6years since I got on the air and the show am doing is a dream. Because I’ve been peeking at how I can have a platform to talk with youthful people, to do all these different light fun things but still infuse my faith and this show I am doing is it” showed the singer during an interview on Switch TV’s that spot.
Joyce also explains that the prolonged scarcity was following her master’s degree. There were many possibilities afterward, but she was waiting for the right one:
“ There have been changes that have come along, but I believe that it’s essential to understand that not each opportunity is the right one. And its knowledge, it is discipline, and its self-love and value to comprehend which opportunities you should accept and which ones you should leave behind,” She counted.
The show airs every Monday-Friday on Switch TV from 8 AM to 9 AM.
The God-fearing lady is married to the Citizen TV Presenter Waihiga Mwaura. Waihi was love-struck upon meeting Joyce, but she appeared not interested at first. She curled down his birthday invitation, but once her first song was fired, Waihiga upped his game and started tweeting her publicly. One thing led to another & they began dating away from the spotlight.
The lovebirds got wedded at Sawela lodge in Naivasha on 18th December 2015. Joyce thanked her mother for making the celebration a sensation and her best friend for developing the gorgeous gown she wore. This is the couple’s 5th year in wedding, and they believe marriage works, but it bears work.
