Today I will do something extra and take you through a personal experience with digital lending apps in Kenya that are effortlessly downloadable on Google Store.
Well, I have downloaded nearly all of them out there and have been capable of accessing loans since mid-2018. If you have never accepted a loan from these apps, maybe you can learn something or two.
Nevertheless, if you know and have taken several apps, you might link to everything I share here.
Make sure you leave a comment and share your adventure.
Let’s get started.
Top Money Lending apps in Kenya
First, I want to declare that most of these apps are legit, while some are scams and can be bypassed. I have not downloaded any that is a scam, but I have downloaded some that told didn’t qualify for a loan.
So let’s start with the best.
This is the best app of all, my knowledge has been good, and they gave me good loans. I remember when I got 30K. They have more extended periods for you to pay and have not prompted me so far.
I joined Branch in early 2018, and I have been using it ever since until Miss Rona came around, and I am incompetent to pay the last loan I took.
The most useful thing they don’t pressure me like the others I will share below.
For those who don’t know, the Branch app works in Kenya and several other countries. They present loans from a minimum of Ksh 250 and reach up to a max of Ksh 70,000.
Tala – Best digital lending app in Kenya
I don’t understand anyone who has never taken a loan from Tala. To me, this is one of the finest digital lending apps in Kenya at the moment.
My voyage on the app has been useful, and at one point, I got 30K from them. This is the most elevated amount they can loan you in Kenya. Shida ni their repayment span of 1 month.
Like Branch, I defaulted because of Miss Rona but hawajanisumbua na texts, although they text every day hawana vitisho mob.
I detected that there was a time they refused to deliver loans; I think in March or April this year, they, afterward on, offered me a loan of 5K. This suggests that if you used to get 30K from them, they could only offer you 5K.
This is because CBK refused them access to CRB.
But this Tala is an App I can suggest to you if you have a problem. Check out the fantastic Tala review I did recently.
HF Whizz is a fair and legit lending app backed by the Housing Finance Corporation. It is not simply a loan app but a banking app. So you will become a client of HF if you decide to use this app.
I used to get exemplary loans from the HF Whizz app, but when Miss … (You know who I am speaking about) came around, they totally denied me loans. Every time I check, they say that my limitation is Zero.
This app is not a friend in need.
When they established the app, I was among the first to enter, and so far, it’s my famous banking app. They used to call it CBA loop, but now it is NCBA Loop.
To get a loan from this app, you hold to use it for some time (Like 3 months). After that, you have to deposit money to the app and use it to buy stuff. After that, they will give you an offer if you accept the pesa inaigia kwa account.
The most useful and I don’t have a loan with them since the charge they offer is too big I am scared of taking it.
Eazzy App from Equity
Equity is my bank, and the app is way more useful than their Equitel lines. But to use it, you require the Equitel line.
If you default, the issue with them is they take your money saved in the account without inquiries.
I defaulted by a day; they took my balance and stopped me from accessing their Eazzy loans, mpaka sahii.
Zenka app used to be good, I employed them for several months, but now they don’t present loans. The first loan they give you is free (You don’t pay interest) but the others, the interest is increased compared to Akina branch and tala.
This app will give you money but slow paying by just a day, and they will start reaching all your contacts to humiliate you. I don’t suggest them. Plus, their repayment time is little, and their representatives though polite will call you even a day before the scheduled date. They will start adding some % on your loan each day you miss to refund.
I always get a loan from iPesa lakiniTabia ndio mbaya.
Did I just say iPesa wako na tabia mbaya? Well, the Okash app is the actual digital shylock. Unfortunately, their interest rates are high, their repayment span is so little, and they have harsh agents.
That is if you fall to repay their loans.
They will start texting you 3 days before your scheduled date, and they will threaten you on the due date.
They will go forth and call any contact on your phone. If you occur to pick one of their many calls, they will offend you without even greetings.
Only take their loans if you know you will refund in time.
That is my complete experience with digital lending apps in Kenya. If I have not cited a lending app, then it’s a dung of time on your end.
The preferences of Haraka (Nowhere on the play store), stawika, zash, etc.
What is your experience? Let me understand in the comments.
