Karua has also held other administration positions, including serving as National Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Minister of Water Resources Management and Development, & Minister of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs.
In 2013, she steered for Kenya’s presidential seat but came in 6th place. This honored the end of her parliamentary position in Gichugu after having the seat since 1992 following Kenyan law barring simultaneously steering for a parliamentary job and presidency. Karua came back to the colosseum in 2017 vying for Kirinyaga’s gubernatorial seat but failed to Anne Waiguru despite challenging the results up to the Supreme Court.
