Mike Njenga is a Kenyan reporter who has worked for the biggest media house in the country. His journey to becoming a well-known face on Kenya’s screens was not an easy one. At one moment, he was so broke to the point of embarrassment. In an interview, he once remembered how a pastor made breaking remarks about him because of his bad situation. So hurtful were the comments that he has not forgotten that disgrace to date.

“Some years back, I was performing at a certain church. I used to do sound for that special church and sometimes would doze at city hall on days we held gatherings there. I was extremely broke. One Sunday, I moved and borrowed open shoes from my cousin. I did not even have funds to buy shoe polish. So, I used a sponger soaked in water to wipe the dust from the shoes,” he narrated.

The news anchor then proceeded on to narrate how the pastor called him and other apostles and lashed out at them for not dressing properly while on the pulpit. He proceeded on to state that some of them were modeling open shoes as if they were on the coast. What hurt more was that he had borrowed the capital to go to church that day & it was not his desire to dress badly, he just did not have the money.
