It is common-but, not justification-that men are not always comfortable with one woman. According to Diana Opemi Lutta, the pair were booked in a five-star hotel in Mombasa when the incident occurred. She filed a report at the Nyali police station & the matter is said to have been settled. The information under OB Number 10-22-05-2021 reads:

Police additionally advised her to seek a medical alert after being issued with a P3 form:
“Police urged her to seek medical attention for further police action after she was given with a P3 form which was later sufficed at the Coast General Hospital..”
The former UNCTAD secretary-general rubbished the claims saying he had never hit a lady in his life. He told the People Daily via text message:
“Someone had written a report arguing l had assaulted her, but it was not true; I have never beaten any lady in my life, nor do I intend ever to do it at any given time. So we sorted out the case, and it was withdrawn..”
