Mt Kenya University has the most acceptable medical school in Kenya, a report unleashed by the East African Community member states national medical and dental practitioners councils has revealed. The body, managed by Dr Nyemazi Alex, a member of the Rwanda Medical & Dental Council, also urged the closure of Uzima University College medical school.

About Mt Kenya University

The Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board granted MKU Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) program provisional accreditation in May, 2014. The institution has state-of-the-art science laboratories, a modern anatomy laboratory & a funeral home at the Thika Level 5 Hospital. In addition, it is in partnership with Machakos Level 5 Hospital and other strategic allies.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have met the subsequent minimum University entry requirements.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders with C+ Mean grade WITH an standard of B in each of the following cluster subjects
i) Biology ii/Chemistry iii /Physics or Mathematics iv/ English or Kiswahili
Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education KACE holders
A minimum of two principal decrees in Biology, Chemistry & Subsidiary pass in either Mathematics or Physics
International Baccalaureate IB, a minimum of degree 5 or above
Diploma holders (Medical Sciences, a minimum ‘O’ level Division II) decree in KACE or C+ mean grade WITH acclaim C+ in the requisite cluster subjects in KCSE, In extra to a 3-year diploma WITH a minimum of a credit credentials from a Board-recognized medical training institution
Mastership in English language.
Degree-holders in Biological Sciences or comparable qualifications from a recognized university subject to passing the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
Other qualifications considered to be equivalent to those in paragraphs (1) to (4) above will be subject to Senate’s
approval.

Fee & Duration

Ksh. 450, 000 per Year and Ksh. 150, 000 per Trimester.
Trimester design to last for a period of 6 Calendar years. Study period not to surpass 12 Calendar years
Application
Apply to the Registrar, Academic Affairs confining copies of relevant academic or professional certificates. Application fee is Kshs. 1,000.
